Jelena Noura "Gigi" Hadid (born April 23, 1995) is an American model, television personality, and music video director who is a friend of Taylor Swift.
Career[]
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Gigi, the oldest of three, started her modeling career at age 2 when she was discovered by Paul Maricano of Guess and began modeling for Baby Guess. She later put modeling on hold so she could focus on school but resumed her career in 2011 after signing with IMG Models. She has since appeared in ads for Guess and Tom Ford among others. She has also appeared in Sports Illustrated's swimsuit issue. She has also walked in runway shows for designers like Jeremy Scott and Desigual.
Music videos[]
Besides her work as a model, Gigi has appeared in several music videos including Taylor's "Bad Blood" music video, in which she played a character named Slay-Z. She also appears in the music video for Calvin Harris's hit single "How Deep is Your Love". She even got to co-direct the music video for "Cake By the Ocean" by her ex-boyfriend Joe Jonas and his band, DNCE. She later appeared in singer Zayn Malik's video for his single, "Pillowtalk".
Personal life[]
Gigi dated singer Cody Simpson off and on for nearly two years until 2015. She later dated Taylor's former boyfriend, singer Joe Jonas.
She began dating former One Direction singer Zayn Malik in November 2015. On March 2018 Hadid and Malik mutually announced their break up but later got back together. They broke up again in November 2018. She then briefly dated former Bachelorette contestant Tyler Cameron. Soon after that, she got back together with Malik and had a daughter the following year. The couple split for good in October 2021.
Hadid was later romantically linked to actor Leonardo DiCaprio. She is now dating actor & director Bradley Cooper.
Friendship with Taylor[]
Taylor and Gigi have mutual friends in common including actress Jaime King and Selena Gomez among others. The two have been seen hiking together in Los Angeles, and Gigi even joined Taylor onstage at her concert in Detriot. Gigi even spent the 4th of July with Taylor and their friends at her Rhode Island home.
Gigi Hadid has become one of the core people that the songstress can turn to when she needs some good advice. In fact, she's the "one of the first people" she goes to, per Harper's Bazaar. Swift told the outlet, " [Gigi] has this incredible ability to see all sides of a situation and simplify it for you, to see the complexity of people."
Hadid attended The Eras Tour in Nashville on May 6, 2023 accompanied by Lily Aldridge, Matty Healy, Ashley Avignone, and Abigail Anderson and in Santa Clara on July 28, 2023 accompanied by Patrick Ta.
